On April 30, 2002 a water leak was discovered at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites located at 200 Flagler Plaza Dr., Palm Coast, FL 32137. The hotel was newly constructed and scheduled to open for business on May 3, 2002. The contractor building the hotel first discovered the leak when the workers arriving for the day opened the doors of the property on the morning of April 30, 2002 and found 8" of water on the lower floor. It was learned that a plumber for the mechanical contractor failed to properly secure a fitting. At first, the owners of the hotel attempted to negotiate with the insurance company for the plumbing subcontractor, but quickly learned that they needed assistance. Tutwiler and Associates Inc. was selected by the insured and began to review the damages. The insurance company assembled and paid $81,440.69 which is what they believed to be the actual loss. We successfully recovered a total of $400,373.84.
