On October 29, 2012, Superstorm Sandy came ashore causing extensive flood damage to this luxury home located on Lido Beach, New York. After waiting nearly 5 weeks for a flood adjuster to simply call and schedule an appointment, the property owner’s realized they could not wait any longer and decided to hire the professional services of Tutwiler and Associates Public Insurance Adjusters to help them document the loss and damages. Shortly thereafter, Public Adjuster Rick Tutwiler was retained and the process began.
While making inspections in the dead cold of winter Mr. Tutwiler took particular note of damage to the granite tile floors, custom wood “judges” wall paneling, high end kitchen cabinetry and appliances, radiant heat and custom furniture throughout the home.
When the flood adjuster finally conducted his initial inspection, Mr. Tutwiler quickly provided everything needed to expedite the claim. As a result, this claim was the very first of the flood adjuster’s 100 + claims to be settled and paid.
Ultimately, the insured collected full policy limits to his complete satisfaction, which may not have been achieved without Mr. Tutwiler’s involvement. Specifically, one of the major building components the insurance company examiners attempted to dispute were the granite tile floors, which they felt could simply be cleaned and re-polished. However, Mr. Tutwiler was able to prove that in many areas throughout the home, the granite floors were separating. In addition, the radiant heat equipment that was beneath the floors also needed to be removed as it was starting to corrode.
This home is back on its way to being fully restored to its former beauty and in record time!
Owner note to Rick: “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
