Public Adjuster Recovers $310K after Initial Insurer Offer of $26K for Water Supply Break

Florida is the poster child for winter vacation homes with many homeowners splitting their time between their northern and southern home. But that means a home may be left unattended for 6 months or more. In this claim, the homeowners split their time between New York and Boynton Beach, Florida. They initiated a homeowner’s claim in late July 2017 after receiving notice from a neighbor that water had been pouring out of their house due to a failed refrigerator supply line.  Several days after filing the claim they contacted Tutwiler & Associates for assistance as they were unfamiliar with the property insurance claim process, were worried about receiving a fair settlement and were unable to stay in Florida for the entirety of the claim.

Claims Adjuster Mike Stabile Negotiates 429% Insurance Claim Settlement Increase on Hurricane Matthew Claim

Claims Adjuster Mike Stabile Negotiates 429% Insurance Claim Settlement Increase on Hurricane Matthew Claim

When Hurricane Matthew worked its way north in the Atlantic barely off of the east coast of Florida in September of 2016, many homes and businesses were damaged by wind, rain and flood waters. In a catastrophic event, many homeowners are not provided with an in-depth investigation by their insurance company claims adjuster. Instead, the insurance company adjusters jump from home to home missing many critical and costly damages. As such, the actual scope of loss and damages is not effectively addressed leaving homeowners with nowhere near the funds they will need to pay for the repairs necessary to restore their home to its former beauty. In fact, there are frequently times that major structural damages and costly items such as building code upgrades go unaddressed. Such is the case with this homeowner in the Daytona area. After realizing they would not have enough money to repair their home and more importantly that their home was unsafe to live in due to structural damages to the roof, the homeowner retained the services of public adjuster Mike Stabile. He quickly identified damages supposedly missed by the insurance company adjuster and resubmitted the claim.  Through Mike’s diligence, attention to detail and negotiation skills, he was able to recover all the funds necessary for the homeowner to fully restore their home.

Simply Reading the Insurance Policy Results in a Favorable Claim Settlement for Sarasota, Florida Homeowners

Some months back I received a call from a physician who was referred to me by an engineering firm we had worked with on a large project in Longboat Key, Florida that resulted in a multi-million dollar settlement. Not only was the client pleased with our work, but their engineer apparently was equally impressed given the kind words he shared with the physician about our work and the results we were able to achieve with the Longboat Key insurance claim.

Spring Hill, FL Sinkhole Claim & the Perils of Managed Repair - Insurance Company Pays Out 100% Over Initial Offer Due to Their Insistence on Using Option to Repair

Spring Hill, FL Sinkhole Claim & the Perils of Managed Repair - Insurance Company Pays Out 100% Over Initial Offer Due to Their Insistence on Using Option to Repair

A man in Spring Hill, Florida found damage to his house which led him to believe that he had a sinkhole. Subsequent investigation by his insurance carrier confirmed that sinkhole activity did indeed exist under his home. Their solution for repair was to pump concrete underground and to do a band-aid type repair of the cosmetic and structural damages to the home. Their initial repair estimate for the dwelling damages was slightly in excess of $18,000. They also allowed for approximately $117,000 for subsurface repairs (the sinkhole grouting itself). The insurance carrier also chose to exercise their option to repair the property using contractors of their choice.

Public Adjuster Restores Order after Tierra Verde House Fire Turns into a Property Claim Nightmare

Public Adjuster Restores Order after Tierra Verde House Fire Turns into a Property Claim Nightmare

On February 28, 2013 a massive fire broke-out in this upscale waterfront home located in Tierra Verde, Florida burning off the roof and causing significant fire, water, and smoke damage to the rest of the building structure, custom furniture, and personal belongings.  As is typical with all fires, which become public record when the fire department gets called, the homeowner was “assaulted” (his words) by emergency service restoration contractors and public adjuster chasers who came from all over the State of Florida to give their sales pitch.  Unfortunately, this property owner fell victim and signed with a restoration company who provided an estimate with a “not to exceed” agreement. But when the contractor sent the invoice for services performed, it was triple the amount!  The insurance company was just as surprised and refused to pay an obviously exorbitant amount. The contractor’s response was to place a lien on the property until the situation could be resolved.

Patient Homeowner Gets Substantial Settlement by Choosing the Right Public Adjuster after Largo, FL Fire Loss

Patient Homeowner Gets Substantial Settlement by Choosing the Right Public Adjuster after Largo, FL Fire Loss

On May 11, 2014 a serious electrical fire broke-out in the home of a Clearwater Largo, FL family causing significant fire, water, and smoke damage to the building and personal property.  During and after the fire was extinguished many contractors and public adjuster chasers offering their services bombarded the homeowners with confusing information and high pressure sales tactics. Sadly, this is becoming a recurring theme when fires occur. We continue to believe that property owners need to realize that it is in their best interest to stay away from the majority of these solicitors until they have done their due diligence and have coordinated plan of action in place. They must also be wary not to sign any contract that assigns the entire insurance claim over to a stranger who now owns the proceeds of their claim. In our industry this language is called Assignment of Benefits.

Public Adjuster Secures Immediate Payment for Tampa Fire Claim

On September 8, 2013 a substantial fire broke-out at this upscale home located in the Greater Northdale area of Tampa causing significant fire, water, and smoke damage to the building structure, furniture, and personal belongings.  As the fire was going on and in the hours subsequent, the homeowner was bombarded by many contractors and public adjuster solicitors offering their insurance claim adjusting services to the property owner. Resisting the high pressure tactics of some, the owner keenly recognized that it was in his best interest to stay away from the majority of these people simply because he did not know who they were. He also knew not to sign anything until he had a chance to check references, do his research and think about it.
